- Parents/guardians may request a transfer from their home school to another school within the district as part of the intra-district transfer application process.
- The intra-district transfer process is only available to students who will be in Kindergarten through 8th grade in the 2025-2026 school year.
- The intra-district transfer process is only available to resident students who are currently enrolled in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, including entering kindergarten students. Kindergarten registration opens March 1, 2025.
- Parents/guardians may submit no more than one application per student during the application period.
When does the intra-district transfer application window open and close?
- The intra-district transfer application window opens March 3, 2025 and closes April 11, 2025 (6 weeks).
Does completing the intra-district transfer application process guarantee my transfer request?
- No. Intra-district transfers are granted based on space availability at the requested grade level in a school, with priority going to neighborhood students within a school attendance zone.
Are intra-district transfers granted on a first come, first served basis?
- No. Following the April 11, 2025 intra-district transfer application deadline, all applications received are processed.
How does the district process intra-district transfer applications?
- Space Availability
- Availability per school and grade level is determined.
- Application
- Applications go through a 2-step sorting process:
- STEP 1 – Applications are sorted based on the requested school and grade level
- STEP 2 – Applications are then sorted based on a “sibling priority” which gives school and grade level preference to students with a sibling currently enrolled in the school where the parent is requesting an intra-district transfer for a sibling.
- Granting Intra-District Transfers
- Intra-district transfers are granted based on space availability at a school and grade level.
- If the number of requests exceeds the number of available spaces in a school at a particular grade level, a random computerized selection process is used.
