Mar. 27, 2018 -- The Heights High Theater Department will perform the comedy Noises Off, April 12-14, 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The show is a three act play-within-a-play about a group of actors rehearsing for the show Nothing On. There are jokes, slapstick scenes, botched lines and missed cues.

“This is a hilarious show,” said the show’s director David Jurns. “It’s modern, fun and well known.”

It is also a challenging show. “There's so much going on at any one time that trying to get all the actors in the right place at the right time has been interesting,” continued Mr. Jurns. 

Senior Jesse Hodges has been in several other school productions and is enjoying playing two characters - the actor and the character in the play. “The actor that I play is one of the biggest idiots in the group and he is really oblivious to other people's feelings,” he said.

Freshman Jona Kerr-Jung loves the challenge of the second act that takes place backstage and includes lots of action - running, jumping and ax wielding. “It seems chaotic but it has to be choreographed to get it right,” he said. “And it is great when we get it right!”

Senior Lily Kerr-Jung is enjoying preparing for a comedy performance. “I play a pretty bad actor, and it is a challenge to do it bad and be funny,” she said. “And, because my character falls down and is crawling, it’s just crazy fun!”

While there are nine actors in the play, Mr. Jurns refers to the set and props are the ‘tenth cast member.’ The show’s set is one of the most complex pieces constructed at the school. It is two stories high and pivots on a stationary point to reveal the back stage set. “The whole set is on castors and we’ll swivel it 180 degrees between scenes,” said Technical Director Keith Newman.

The ticket price is $10 donation, but all audience members are invited to pay what they can, any donation is appreciated. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
