October 7 is International Walk to School Day around the world. In the Heights, we celebrate October 7 as Walk or Bike to School Day.
Our District has participated from the start in this fast-growing event.
Walk or Bike to School Day events raise awareness for good routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
All novice cyclists who plan to begin riding to school should have instruction from a knowledgeable adult about bike handling skills and other bike safety information. Check with your child's school for participation information.
For more information, see the National Walk/Bike to School website.
