CLEVELAND HEIGHTS , OH – Now in his 33rd year as head coach of the Cleveland Heights High School Wrestling Team, Larry Hoon has had an illustrious career coaching the Tigers, including one State Championship. Middle School students from across Northeast Ohio will become more familiar with Coach Hoon at the 1st Annual Larry Hoon Wrestling Tournament for middle school students being held at Monticello Middle School (3665 Monticello Boulevard) on Saturday, December 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fifteen area schools will participate in the event in honor of Coach Hoon, including all three CH-UH middle schools.
“Coach Hoon has been the fabric of Heights High wrestling for over three decades,” CH-UH Athletic Coordinator Tom Hill said. “Even students first entering our program are familiar with the success he has built. We are excited about joining other schools from across the region to pay homage to his dedication and commitment to student-athletes.”
Monticello Middle School wrestling coach Doug Higham and Monticello Faculty Manager Chris Cook are coordinating the event.
