“Poetry is a great way for teens to express themselves, and I’m honored to represent the PRIDE School of Heights High at the Poetry Gala,” senior Reginald Lewis said.
“We are very excited about this opportunity for students,” District Coordinator of Literacy Helen Hirsch said. “This celebration of poetry aligns with our District-wide focus on oral and written communications and showcases the many talents of our emerging young authors.”
Students will perform a range of poems from I’m Awake, I’m Awake by Jack Prelutsky to Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou, in addition to 15 original pieces.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Literacy Coordinator Helen Hirsch at 320-2223. |
