CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH – Demonstrating their learning and aptitude on the national stage, seven students from Cleveland Heights High School have placed at the top levels of the 71st annual National French contest, Le Grand Concours.
“We are so proud of how well our students placed at Le Grand Concours,” said CH-UH Superintendent Deborah Delisle. “They have each worked very hard both in and out of the classroom on their French lessons, and their efforts really paid off. Heights High French teachers Gina Staron and Deborah Humbert are to be congratulated for preparing these students so well.”
The students’ national ranks and levels are:
Megan McCoy 8th (2nd level)
Erin Harte 9th (2nd level)
Abigail Skully 9th (2nd level)
Sarah Dion 5th (3rd level)
Patrick Hoban 6th (4th level)
Ann Johnston 7th (4th level)
Gabriela Salazar 9th (4th level)
Le Grand Concours is a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students were evaluated for their written, oral, and listening comprehension skills in French. Over 100,000 students in all 50 states competed in the 2006 event.
